General safety information, and that relevant to the carrier machine is not included. For details about safe operation of the carrier machine, see the relevant documents.

Units of Measurement
In this handbook, the S.I. system of units is used. For example, liquid capacities are given in litres. The Imperial units/and where appropriate the USA standard units follow in parenthesis ( ), for example 28 litres (6 UK gal), (7.4 US gal).

Page Numbering
The page numbering system in this manual is not continuous. There is a gap of a few pages between sections. This allows for the insertion of new pages in later issues.
Carrier Machine Suitability
JCB Drillmaster earth drills are intended for use with JCB machines as indicated below.
JCB 801 Series Mini Excavator – Drillmaster 750
JCB 160, 165, 170 Robot – Drillmaster 1200
JCB 185, 190, 1110 Robot – Drillmaster 1650
JCB 1CX Backhoe Loaders – Drillmaster 750
JCB 2CX Backhoe Loaders – Drillmaster 1200
Installing/Removing
1 The Drillmaster 1200 and 1650 is supplied fitted with a dedicated attachment frame. Position the earth drill as shown at X.
2 Hitch the earth drill attachment frame to the machine quickhitch. See the machine Operator Handbook for the correct procedure.
3 Switch off the engine. Turn the starter key back to IGN. Vent the auxiliary hydraulic circuit by operating the auxiliary controls at least 6 times. Turn the starter key to OFF and remove it.
4 Route the hoses and connect the quick release couplings to the machine auxiliary hydraulic pipe work. Make sure that the hoses will not become trapped or chafed. Make sure that the quick release couplings are properly engaged.
5 The Drillmaster 1200 and 1650 are supplied with a hose clamp A. Locate the hoses and clamp them to the attachment frame as shown at Y. The hose clamp can be left permanently in place.
