GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The JCB Duopower hydraulic powerpack has been specially developed to provide a lightweight source of portable hydraulic powetfortheJcBhydrau!ic breakersandtoois. Despite the Duo powers simple construction, the powerpack incorporates many special features such as automatic, energy saving, engine speed cootrol and variable hydraulic flow and a unique hydraulic circuit design (patent applied for) which eliminates totally any possibility of pulsation damage to the oil cooler.
All the major components of the are enclosed in a fully welded tubular frame which also provides easy hand hold to maximise portability. A balanced lifting point is also provided.

INTRODUCTION

All hydraulic equipment can be hazardous. When a The JCB Duopower hydraulic powerpack is correctly operated and properly maintained, it is a safe machine to work with. But when correct operation and maintenance routines are not followed, the machine can be a danger to you (the operator) and others.
In this handbook and on the machine you will find warning messages. Read and understand them. They tell you of potential hazards and how to avoid them. If you do not understand the warning messages, ask your employer or JCB Dealer to explain them.
But safety is not just a matter of responding to the warnings. AH the time you are working on or with the machine you must bethinking what hazards there might be and how to avoid them. Do not work with the machine until you are sure that you can control it.
Do not start any job until you are sure that you and those around you wiki be safe. If you are unsure of anything, about the machine or the job, ask someone who knows. Do not assume anything.

ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

ENGINE

The JCB Duopower hydraulic powerpack is fitted with an 18 HP (13.4 kw) Briggs and Stratton Vanguard engine.
The performance figures quoted are produced at a speed of 3600 rev/min (maximum permissible engine speed). Engine speed is controlled automatically by a small hydraulic power on demend ram which is activated by the hydraulic circuit oil pressure.

ELECTRICALSYSTEM

The electrical system Es a 12V negative earth system. The machine is fitted with a single 12V battery. Consult the Engine Manufacturer’s Handbook for details of the engine electrical circuits.

DESCRIPTION

Duopower powerpacks are fitted with two independent hydraulic circuits capable of delivering variable flow outputs of 0-20 litres/min which can be combined to give a single 0-40 litres/min. output. Full details are provided in Section D – Specification.
The reservoir for the circuit is the hydfaulic oil tank T which contains suction filters B to prevent any dirt particles from being drawn into the pumps D, and return filter A to clean the returning oil. Hydraulic oil is drawn from the tank T, through the oil cooler C by the engine driven pumps D.
