This document details the relevant use and maintenance procedures for the large JCB large Hammermasters 1050, 1350, 1750, 2350, 2950, 3850 together with the ‘Q’ versions. The safety information included is directly relevant to operation and maintenance of the large Hammermasters. General safety information, and that relevant to the carrier machine is not included. Carrier Machine Suitability

The JCB large Hammermasters are suitable for use with a range of JCB JS Excavators as detailed in the table of Carrier Requirements – SPECIFICATION Section of this document. The carrier machine must be fitted with a high flow auxiliary/breaker hydraulic circuit. An installation kit, suitable hanger bracket and a hose kit are available from your JCB Distributor. The large Hammermasters are suitable for use with some other non JCB carrier machines. See the specification section for details of typical carrier requirements. Contact your JCB Distributor for advice.

Basic Description

JCB large Hammermasters are hydraulically operated breakers. They can be used on any carrier which meets the necessary hydraulic and mechanical installation requirements. (See Carrier Requirements).

Two versions of the large Hammermasters are available. The standard version and the Q version The only difference between the two being the sound absorption kit fitted inside the housing of the Q version. The object of this insulation is to lower the operational noise level of the breaker enabling it to be used close to offices, factories or accommodation without causing undue discomfort. Externally there are only superficial differences and the breaker or power cell is identical, should you require further information please contact your JCB Distributor.

Basically the breaker operates by repeatedly raising a piston and driving it down onto the head of a removable breaking or cutting tool. The breakers blow energy is always consistent, provided that the supply pressure is kept within the required limits (see SPECIFICATIONS). Hydraulic pressure peaks are absorbed by the internal pressure accumulator. The operations are explained in more detail in Principles of Operation.
